Mirror extensions are the cheap fix for the commonest complaint on a modern bike: a mirror full of your own shoulders. They move the mirror outward on the existing stem, which is usually enough to put traffic in it instead.
Bar end mirrors solve the same problem differently, by moving the mirror to the end of the handlebar — a cleaner look, a wider view, and a bike that is wider in filtering traffic. Thread pitch and direction vary between makes, so check the product page for the confirmed models and the part number.
