Öhlins Fork Cartridge Kits
An Öhlins fork cartridge kit replaces the damping internals of your standard front forks, so the original fork legs stay on the motorcycle. Every kit here is made for specific models, named in the title with its Öhlins part number. Yamaha, Honda and Harley-Davidson have the most, followed by Kawasaki, Ducati, Suzuki, BMW, KTM, Husqvarna and others.
Which Öhlins kit is which
- Öhlins FKS Street: street kits, part numbers starting FKS, in NIX 30 and NIX 22 versions. Example: Öhlins FKS Street Fork Cartridge Kit FKS 518 for Yamaha MT-09 / MT-09 GT / XSR 900.
- Öhlins NIX 30 and Öhlins NIX 22: compression damping in the left fork leg, rebound in the right, with the adjusters on the top caps.
- Öhlins TTX 25: FKR racing kits. Example: Öhlins TTX 25 Fork Cartridge Kit FKR 228 for Honda CBR 600 RR.
- Öhlins TTX 22: FCX kits for motocross and enduro bikes, named TTX 22 on Öhlins' FCX 1204 and FCX 1301 pages, for KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and Stark. Example: Öhlins Fork Cartridge Kit FCX 1301 for GasGas, Husqvarna & KTM.
Other kits are titled by their Öhlins part number, such as FKA, FKC, FDK and FGK. On Öhlins' own shop, the Öhlins TTX 25 (FKR) and Öhlins TTX 22 (FCX) kit pages we read carry the note "Motorsport product, not for use on public roads".
Springs, oil and fitting
Some kits come with springs and some do not. Öhlins supplies the NIX 22 FKS 228 kit with springs, while springs for the NIX 30 FKS 518 are ordered separately. Öhlins gives its spring-rate and oil recommendations for rider weight in each kit's mounting instructions. Special tools are not included, and Öhlins strongly recommends having a kit installed by a professional motorcycle or suspension workshop.
