What Öhlins says about the FKR kits

Öhlins says the FKR kit has technology derived from the Moto3, Moto2 and World Superbike championships, developed by its engineers in Sweden, and is designed for high-end racing. It uses a spring-pressurised system rather than gas, which Öhlins says removes the risk of gas leakage, gives a more consistent performance curve and allows a more compact design. With Öhlins TTX technology, a new piston and an 8 mm piston shaft, it says the kit reduces pressure build-up and gives a faster damping response.

Springs and fitting

Spring rate is chosen by rider weight, with recommendations in the mounting instructions. Special tools and fork oil are not included, and Öhlins strongly recommends installation in a specialist workshop. Examples:

Will it fit my motorcycle?

Each listing title names the make and models it fits, with the Öhlins part number. The Fitment section on the listing gives the exact models and years; check yours before ordering.

Does the kit depend on which fork my bike has?

For some kits, yes, and Öhlins names the fork on the kit's page. It lists the FKR 202 "for KYB Fork" on the Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R6, the FKR 105 and FKR 205 "For GSX-R 1000R with Showa BFF fork", and the FKR 218 as "Not For 2017 GSX-R1000R (BFF) fork". The FKR 121 and FKR 221 fit only Aprilia RSV4 models with a named Öhlins fork, and the FKR 129 only Panigale V4 R and V4 S models with a named Öhlins fork. Öhlins also names an Öhlins fork for the FKR 226 on the YZF-R1M, the FKR 231 on the CBR1000RR-R SP, the FKR 134 and FKR 234 on the Panigale V2S and Streetfighter V2S, and the FKR 120 on the Daytona Moto2 765, and says the FKR 105 and FKR 205 are "Not for 2018 SE (semi-active) Version" of the ZX-10R. Check the fork on your bike before ordering.

Which spring rate do I need?

Öhlins bases spring-rate selection on rider weight and gives its recommendations in the mounting instructions for each FKR kit. Check them before ordering springs.
