Öhlins SD20 Steering Dampers
The Öhlins SD20 is a motorcycle steering damper that Öhlins launched as all-new for street and supersport bikes. This page has universal SD20 dampers with 70, 90, 120 and 150 mm strokes, and bike-specific SD20 kits for the Suzuki GSX-R 1000, Ducati Panigale 1199, Honda CBR 1000 RR-R, BMW R 12 G/S and Kawasaki ZX-6R.
What Öhlins changed with the SD20
Öhlins says the SD20 has a larger cylinder and piston, tighter tolerances and a more efficient design. It also uses what Öhlins calls a cylinder-valve design, inspired by its racing applications and its EC steering damper: instead of a traditional needle valve, a series of holes is restricted by an edge inside the cylinder, which Öhlins says allows quicker adjustment.
Universal or bike-specific
The universal SD20s are listed by stroke and are not tied to a model; Öhlins offers mounting kits for individual applications, for race or custom bikes. The bike-specific kits name the models in the title, and the Fitment section gives the years. Examples:
- Öhlins Steering Damper Universal 150 mm Stroke SD20 004
- Öhlins Steering Damper SD20 065 for Honda CBR 1000 RR-R
- Öhlins Steering Damper SD20 059 for BMW R 12 G/S

Will it fit my motorcycle?
The bike-specific SD20 kits name the make and models in the title, and the Fitment section on the listing gives the years; check yours before ordering. The universal SD20s are listed by stroke and need mounting for your bike.
Is the Öhlins SD20 adjustable?
Yes. Öhlins says the SD20 gives smoother adjustment steps across a wider range of damping force.
