Did Harley Davidson kill himself?
Despite the name being known throughout the world, there was no ‘Harley Davidson.’ There were four founders of Harley Davidson in 1903:
- William Harley – The first chief engineer and the one with the initial idea for the motorcycle. He remained treasurer until his death from heart failure in 1943, aged 62.
- Arthur Davidson – The first general sales manager and secretary. He died in a car crash aged 69 in 1950.
- Walter Davidson – Responsible for building the first bike, and became the first President in 1907. He died in 1942.
- William Davidson – The works manager; he helped to run the factories. He died aged 66 in 1937.
