How did Harley Davidson start?
Harley Davidson was founded in 1903 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There were three (Arthur, Walter, William) Davidsons and one (William) Harley involved. Harley’s idea was to fit a small engine on a bike frame, a ‘motor-bicycle.’ In 1904 their second model placed fourth in a State Fair Park race, and in 1905 they produced five and sold three bikes in Chicago. A year later they made fifty and grew year on year, eventually producing nearly 100,000 motorcycles for the US military in the First World War. As one of only two American motorcycle manufacturers to survive the Great Depression, Harley Davidson also played a major part in the Second World War effort.
There is a saying among Harley Davidson dealers... it all starts with a T-Shirt!! before long you will be a lover of the brand with tattoos and dreams of route 66.
