Motorcycle Jeans & Trousers
Jeans, trousers, leggings and shorts from Harley-Davidson, KTM, ROEG, Merlin and Oxford, with riding wear and plain casual bottoms in the same grid. Some are cut to be ridden in and quote a standard to say so. The rest are ordinary clothes. You cannot tell from the pictures.
Twenty-six pairs from five makers, and they are three different things. Some are riding jeans and trousers whose own listing quotes a standard. Four are KTM's off-road pants and quote nothing. The rest are sweatpants, joggers and shorts you would wear off the bike. They are all mixed in together.
All 26 are for sale, with free UK delivery available. Eighteen of them show a was-price on the grid at 10% off RRP. One more shows a smaller reduction. The other seven show none.
What the listings claim
Four of the 26 quote an EN 17092 number. Harley-Davidson's two Passage Adventure trousers both state "Certified to EN 17092-3:2020"; Merlin's Kendal jeans state "CE EN17092 AA Level Certified"; Oxford's Metro 2.0 trouser states "CE A Certified (EN 17092-4:2020)". Eight more name CE armour or an EN 1621 knee protector without giving a garment number. ROEG's three Chaser Jeans washes carry the supplier's line about "AA protection with maximum comfort", Oxford's two jeans say "AA rated" without citing the standard, Merlin's Riley leggings name a Level 1 knee protector, and Harley-Davidson's Runaway leggings say only that "CE approved body armour is placed at key impact areas".
The other fourteen make no such statement anywhere: ten Harley-Davidson casual pieces and all four KTM pants. That does not mean those garments give you nothing. Their listings just do not say.
Five ways to write a size
A size is written five different ways on one grid. Letter sizes cover most of the Harley-Davidson and KTM pieces. Waist and inside-leg pairs cover the ROEG jeans, the Harley-Davidson straight jean and work trouser, and Oxford's OA AA jean. Two of the three Merlin listings use UK dress sizes. Oxford's Super Stretch jean puts a regular or short letter in front of a waist number and gives no inside leg at all. The KTM children's pant goes by age band. Nothing joins those systems up, so measure a pair that already fits you and work from the numbers on the individual listing.
What you may still need
Harley-Davidson's programmable heated bottoms will not do anything on their own. They take power from either the heated gear battery harness or the heated jacket liner, both bought separately. The listing is also blunt about what the garment is, stating it is "intended to be used in conjunction with protective riding gear". So it is a warmth layer. It is not protection.
The ROEG listings do not say whether the hip and knee pads come fitted. The matching inserts are sold on their own on the jackets and vests page. Read the listing before you order a second set. If it says nothing, ring the counter and we will open a box.
