Street Bob Harley Davidson Saddlebags & Panniers
Hard bags, leather bags and throw-over bags are all on this shelf, and each fits differently. A hard bag such as the Detachables range locks with a key and holds its shape when empty, but it bolts to a mounting bracket that has to match your bike. The leather bags here are rigid, locking ones, not soft throw-overs: 91615-09A is listed for Dyna, 90201552A for Low Rider and Street Bob. A throw-over bag is the quickest onto a bike that's never carried luggage before, but on a Harley it still isn't strap-and-go. Harley-Davidson's own listing for the Overwatch throw-over saddlebags (90202693) says "All fitments require model specific H-D Saddlebag supports." The support for the Nightster version isn't on this page at all. Ask before you order the bag on its own.
What comes with the bag, and what doesn't
This is the part that catches people out. Most of what's listed on this page isn't a bag. Forty-four of the 121 listings are speaker lids. Another twenty-five are the hardware that holds a bag on: docking brackets, support brackets, bushings, latch plates, fork-lock kits. Owners on Harley forums report bags turning up without the full docking hardware, then tracking down the missing bracket by part number. Our own shelf shows why: the lower docking bracket, 90201525, is listed separately from any bag it bolts to. The two aren't always sold together.
Fitment changes with the model, and with the year
Touring, Softail and Pan America are three different systems, not one bag styled three ways. Thirty-six listings here are tagged for Touring bikes, and most of those are lids, latches and brackets for hard bags the bike already has. Only two listings carry a Softail tag, a throw-over bag and a liner set; the rest of what fits a Softail is filed under Dyna, Low Rider or Street Bob, or has no tag, so go by the part number. For the Pan America this page carries the Adventure soft saddlebags (90202107). Harley-Davidson also make Sport and aluminium hard cases for that bike, which we don't list here, and rate each of their Pan America cases at 10 kg and a full set at 30 kg. Even within Touring, Harley changed the latch design at the 2014 model year, and our own "2014 & Newer" saddlebag parts exist because of it. A bracket bought for one side of that line won't fit the other.
Keeping things dry inside
A fitted liner keeps loose kit from sliding around, and it isn't automatically a dry bag. Most liners are sewn rather than heat-welded, and a sewn seam lets water through eventually. If something in the bag has to stay dry on a wet ride home, pack it in its own bag inside the liner. Don't rely on the liner by itself.
Everything here is a genuine Harley-Davidson part, sold by an authorised dealer, for sale at 10% off RRP with free UK delivery available, and it carries the manufacturer's warranty a copied bracket won't. Not sure which docking system your bike takes? The Parts Finder searches by model, and the rest of what's genuine for your bike is in Harley-Davidson parts.
