Four lock systems, and none of them share a key
SW-Motech doesn't sell one lock for its whole luggage system. It sells four, built for different jobs. Swapping a key between them doesn't work. The table below sets out which lock belongs with which product on this shelf.
| Lock system | What it locks | Part numbers here |
|---|---|---|
| V-Loc | The side bag lid, and the bag's connection to a V-Loc side carrier | LOC.00.760.10200, LOC.00.760.10100 |
| Dusc | The case lid and the case-to-carrier connection, in one turn | LOC.00.745.10100, LOC.00.745.10200 |
| Legend Gear | The lid of the left-hand Legend Gear side bag | CLOC0068210000S |
| Quick-Lock anti-theft | The carrier's own quick-release fastener, so the carrier itself can't be lifted off the bike | QLS.00.095.10001/B |
Two more locks on the shelf sit outside that table, because neither belongs to a carrier system. One is sold simply as the Cable Lock for Motorcycle Luggage (CLOC0000210100B). The other, the Luggage Lock (CLOC0000110200B), fits through a tail bag's zip pulls and stops the zip opening. It does nothing for the bag itself.
One key, if you stay inside one system
SW-Motech's coding lets one key open several locks, but only inside the same family. The Dusc lock set here comes as three locks on one key, enough for two side cases and a top case. The V-Loc system works differently again. Its cylinder can be coded to your own ignition key, and the coding only fits an internal groove key with an 8.5 mm bit width and a 2.5 mm bit thickness. Check that before assuming it will match your bike.
Lose the key and you're buying a new lock
SW-Motech say plainly that a lost key can't be cut from the code. The only way back in is a new lock set.
Straps that don't mark the paint
The biggest group on this shelf is straps. SW-Motech's own tie-downs and fitting straps are built for one job each: a tail bag, a Legend Gear pull strap, a mounting strap for a specific bag. ROK Straps are the general-purpose option, and their loop ends explain why riders reach for them over an old bungee with metal hooks. A hook can slip under load and mark a tank or a pannier lid. A loop that wraps round a frame tube or a footrest hanger can't dig in the same way.
Inner bags fit the bag they're named for
Four inner bags sit on this shelf: LT3, LT4 and LT5, sized to specific Legend Gear bag models, plus one built for wet weather. There's also an inner net sized for the Dusc XL top case. None of them is a universal fit. Check which model your case or bag actually is before ordering the liner for it.
PRO Base is a seat accessory, not a tank part
PRO Base sounds like a base for a PRO tank bag. It isn't. It's a MOLLE holster that straps to the passenger seat, built to carry a PRO Plus or PRO Pocket bag once one is fitted. Looking for the ring that a tank bag actually clips to? That's on our tank bags shelf, not here.
What goes wrong
Two separate reports on the small combination luggage lock describe the same fault: the dial resets itself to a new code on its own, and the only way out is bolt cutters. Neither says when it happened. It's two people, not a wave of them, but it's the same failure twice on the same product. One owner running Dusc panniers alongside a Quick-Lock carrier lock found the two supposedly different key codes opened each other's locks. That's one report and shouldn't be read as how the system usually behaves. A few riders also dislike that the key can't be pulled from a Dusc-style lock unless it's turned to locked. One who raised it with SW-Motech says they were told it stops the lock working loose on rough ground. That is one owner's account of a conversation, not a published SW-Motech statement.
None of that makes a lock pointless. A lock buys time. It does not make a bag theft-proof, which is worth knowing before relying on one outside a service station.
