A riser kit such as 56269-09 (a 4in curved pullback) or 56267-09 (6in) changes how far back or how high the bars sit, bought for comfort or a different riding position. A lower riser half is a separate purchase entirely: sold on its own, left or right, in chrome, black, satin black or wrinkle black, it replaces one scuffed or bent original, not a comfort purchase. 55900102 is titled for the Breakout (FXBR) and 55900109 for the Street Bob (FLSB). The model is coded straight into the part name. That's how these are ordered, and it isn't only the halves that work this way: kits such as 56269-09, 56267-09, 55900165 and 56916-07 are also named for a size or a frame, Softail and FX among them, not filtered by model. A bushing kit is a third thing again: a wear part that keeps the bars from working loose, whatever height they're set at.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eMatch by name and finish, not just the filter\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThirteen of the twenty-seven parts here are those individual lower halves, matched by finish and the model code in the title rather than a tag you can filter on. Riser and clamp diameter is also a hard stop, not a style choice: Harley runs both 1in and 1.25in \"fat\" bar clamps, and a riser built for one won't take the other. One rider found this out the hard way on a forum thread, ordering replacement bars that were 1in when the riser he already had needed 1.25in fat bars. The fix was sending the bars back for the right size, not forcing the fit. H-D's own official fitment lists can also be narrower than what actually bolts on. More than one owner has asked about a riser not listed for their specific model, with nobody in the thread giving a confirmed answer either way. Across this page, the model name and year decide it as often as any filter does. If you're not certain, check the title against your bike, or ask the parts team before you order.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eHow much rise before the cables run out, and there's no single number for it\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA taller or more pulled-back riser can bring the clutch cable, throttle cable or front brake line up short before it changes anything else about the ride. Owners report our own 56267-09 pullback kit causing no cable or brake-line trouble at all on a Wide Glide, while a similar-looking kit on a Breakout can run out of slack at under half that rise, and a Softail lands somewhere in between. There's no universal figure worth printing. One Dyna owner weighed up a longer cable and a new brake line against the height he wanted. He fitted new bars instead.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eBushings wear out on their own, whatever height you're running\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHarley's own part titles call these isolators. Most riders just say bushings. Same part, either word. The stock rubber ones aren't only a tall-riser problem. Riders report them letting the mounting bolts back out and the bars drift out of square with no height change involved at all, a wear item that fails on its own, on more than one model, in reports spanning over a decade. We stock the polyurethane replacement for both families that need it: 56165-03 for Dyna and Softail, 56298-03A for Touring's FLT bars. A bolt working loose in a riser is also exactly the kind of insecure handlebar mounting a UK MOT test checks for at the grips and the clamps. It's worth a check with a spanner if the bars start feeling different, not only when something new goes on. Fitting shorter risers on a Breakout has separately been reported to bring the front brake line right up to full stretch at full-left lock. That's a different check again, nothing to do with mounting or the MOT. Do it anyway, whatever height you've gone with.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eA fairing means more work, not just more wiring\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn a naked bike with cable-operated controls, swapping a riser or a set of bushings is usually a short job. Add a fairing and that changes. The wiring is not the only thing that slows the job down. On a Touring bike, the fairing itself usually has to come off first just to get a socket on the riser bolts underneath.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eOne entry on this page has nothing to do with comfort or wear: 46809-09 is a 1in riser built specifically to clear the Freight Train headlight nacelle, an accessory that can otherwise catch on the standard riser height. And one entry is a genuine gap, not an oversight: 55900241, the Pan America's own Tall Risers, is the one non-cruiser fitment on this page.
